As the holiday's approach and the weather gets colder my house is filled with a mixture of football news cast at battle with Christmas music, the occasional scream and lots of laughter. I count myself blessed for most of it, I could do without the football stuff but hey...nothing is perfect! It makes Marcus happy so I am really all in. Day's like today call for a special sort of warm dinner that is easy, hearty, and makes both the littles even happier!
The chili is Award Winning. I get to say that now because I won an award for it, even if it was for "Craziest Chili." I say it tastes great! Leeann and I tossed a whole bunch of stuff together and viola, we got a winner! I hope you and your family enjoy it as much as we did.
P.S. See that dish? My Mom gave that to me over the Thanksgiving Holiday...I LOVE THE SET OF FOUR!!!! Thanks Mom!!
Now, on to the ingredients!
We need some corn, chick peas, small onion, pepper, half a pound of sausage and ground beef each, diced tomatos, 8 oz tomato sauce, kidney beans, and a small can of chili...with or without beans..I use BOTH!
Let's not forget the spices...they are important.
To start off, lets brown the sausage and ground beef together. While they brown, add in a teaspoon of chili powder and a teaspoon of chili powder...okay I LIED...a whole table spoon of each!!! JUST DO IT!! Spice is life. Don't drain the meat, toss it into a crock pot.
I love this picture....something about those two colors made me smile today. Chop up that onion and green pepper. Mom, don't cry...we will find a way to replace your chopper!!!
Add them to the crock pot too! See..starting to layer it up.
Next, add in those yummy chick peas. I had no idea how yummy they would be until a friend from my Bible study, Kim made a chili with hers. It was sweet goodness...
Then comes the kidney beans and corn...such a colorful combination of flavors and ..um..colors!!!
